The IQ Test/Dads and Doughnuts

Yesterday our neighbor, who lives below us, came over and told us that he is studying to be a clinical psychologist and they were doing a study on children ages 6-16. They needed to do IQ testing. He asked if maybe that would be something that Noah would be interested in. Of course we had to ask if they were going to give him a shot, and of course they weren't, so Noah agreed. So this afternoon after school he went and took the test. Because it is just a study they can't give us the results but I am sure he did well. He is so smart. Mark, our neighbor, told Noah that because he did the IQ test he would make him some homemade ice cream as a thank you! That should be good. I think it is so neat all the things that Noah is able to do and see while here in Utah. He says he is enjoying it all.

Last night at school they had a program called "Dads and Doughnuts". It is where you and your dad come to the school library and read together and then pick up a doughnut on the way out. Chris has class every Tuesday from 5-7pm. That was the same time as "Dads and Doughnuts". So Noah wasn't going to be able to go. He was a little upset but he would've gotten over it. So Noah and I went to the BYU bookstore to get our t-shirts for the football game on Friday and when we were leaving I got a phone call on my cell phone from Chris. It was 6pm so I thought maybe he got a link that every time I swipe my debit card he gets a text message on his phone......well that wasn't it. Chris' class ended 1 hour early. It was perfect. So Noah and Chris made it and had plenty of time for "Dads and Doughnuts". Noah was so excited and had a great time.

Noah also starts Wrestling tomorrow night at 6pm. I hope he enjoys it. Him and his BF Mason will be doing Wrestling together. It is nice that he will already know someone there. I will post how it goes with pictures later this week.
So Noah and I were watch "The Nanny" last Saturday night. Fran was having the twins and Noah asked if the babies were coming out of her butt. Of course I am not ready to go into detail yet so I told him "sometimes they come out of your belly" I didn't lie I just didn't give him all the ways a baby can come out. He is 8 years old. He doesn't need to know that quite yet. Maybe when I have another baby I will tell him. Anyways so then I am putting him to bed and he tells me that he doesn't want to get married in the Temple. Shocked, I asked him...."Why? You don't want to have an eternal family and be together forever?" He then tells me..."I don't want to because if my wife has a baby and gets fat I don't want to stay married to her." WHATTTTT????????? I have a lot of teaching to do. What 8 year old really thinks of that kind of stuff? He is so crazy. I have my work cut out for me I guess.

So things here in Utah have been great but very busy. Chris is doing great with school. He is having some problems with Calculus but I know he will do fine. He doesn't like how big the classes are. He likes the smaller classes but I am sure he will at some point get use to it. He is really enjoying the ROTC program. It has been good for him and is keeping him in shape which he really likes. He studies a lot but still makes time for me and Noah. With his work schedule he is home every night. I love that.

Noah is doing great in school. He is learning a lot and doing much better with his reading. He has made a lot of new friends. He loves cub scouts and is doing great with it. They meet just down the street so he gets to ride his bike there. He starts wrestling on Thursday and is really looking forward to it. He had built a fort in his room and has set up a candy store in his fort. He has his cd player in there so he can listen to "Taylor Swift" whenever he wants. We are going to the BYU football game this Friday night. He can't wait. He will have so much fun. Then Saturday morning we are going to General Conference at 10am. We have tickets and can't wait to go hear the prophet and see him in person. Such a great experience for Noah.

I am still babysitting and I love it. I love staying at home and spending more time with Noah. I enjoy being able to make dinner for my family every night and not feeling so overwhelmed. It is great. I love having more time for myself, scripture study, cleaning, and just being a mom and wife. I feel like I have more patience now that I don't feel so rushed all the time. It is great. I am so glad that I have found a new best friend, Sarah. We talk everyday and hang out almost everyday. Her son and Noah are best friends so that helps too. She has made the adjustment for me so much easier.

Noah's Busy Schedule!!!

Noah had his first day of school on August 19th 2009. He is going to Rock Canyon Elementary School. It is a great school and is about 2 minutes from our apartment. He loves school and is making lots of new friends. He is in the 3rd grade this year and I am sure he will continue to do well with his grades. He is very smart and I know he can do it. Every Friday is early out day so they get out at 1:30pm. Noah loves that. It gives him more time to play with his best friend Mason. He is also already in cub scouts and does that every Friday from 3:30 to 4:30. He loves scouts. There are about 9 wolves in his den and most of them live in our apartment complex. That makes it nice that he sees these boys at church, school, and scouts. I have also signed him up for wrestling. That starts on October 1st so he will be doing that as well. Very busy but having a great time doing it.

Noah at the BYU Dinosaur Museum

We took a family trip to the BYU Dinosaur Museum. It was very neat. Noah liked looking at all the fossils and gems they had. His favorite part, of course, was the dinosaurs. He took a couple of pictures with the dinosaurs and enjoyed telling us what dinosaur was what. He is such a smart boy. He knows a lot about science stuff. He enjoys that kind of stuff.

Chris!!!

So Chris is back to school and is working too. He is doing the ROTC thing so three days a week he is up and gone by 5:45 to be at PT by 6am. His school schedule isn't bad and he is working at the BYU Library. He is liking his job and with the hours he has, is home almost every night and is off every Sunday. It is really nice. Even though he will be studying most of the time he is home, at least he will be home. That is going to be nice. He took his PT test the other day, and past. I knew he would but Chris is a worrier and wasn't sure. He has been worried about it for a couple of days. He is doing great with the adjustment of switching from a community college to a University. The only thing he doesn't like is that the classes are so big that you don't even talk to your Professor like you do back home at Richard Bland, where they know all of their students by name. Oh well he will adjust. I know that he will continue to do well . He always does.

The Bike Accident!!!!

Chris and I were just sitting in the apartment when there was a knock at the door. Chris got up to answer it and it was our neighbor and he said that Noah had fallen off his bike and wanted his mom. Of course I go running down the stairs to see where he was. He fell over a concrete wall and into some bark that is on the playground. I picked him up and took him home and got him all cleaned up. The drama was ridiculous but I can't blame him too much for that because he gets it from me. The two days later Chris and I are at dinner and Noah was spending the night with his friend Mason. My cell phone rings and it is Sarah, Mason's mom, Noah has fallen off his bike again. She says he is fine but he keeps crying. He has survived the two bike crashes but he is banged up really good. Boys will be Boys!!!! Noah looks like an abused child but I swear he is just all boy and he looks it with all the scrapes and bruises. I am sure this is not the last of them, I just hope he has time to heal before the next accident.

Oh Noah!!!!

So Noah has had quite some adventures while here in Utah. He has lost another tooth. He pulls his own teeth because I can't do it. He is such a trooper. So it was time for bed and Noah decided he wanted a visit from the tooth fairy so he told me to hold on and he went into the bathroom and about 20 minutes later comes out with a tooth in his hand. He was so excited. He has lost quite a bit of teeth and if he hasn't pulled them one of his teachers at school has. He even had a teacher pull one at one of his basketball games. CRAZY!!!!!!
