Our Vacation to Colorado Springs, Colorado-Summer 2010

What an amazing trip we had. I decided a month or so ago that I would like to take Chris on a special vacation as a thanks for all the hard work he has put into school, work, and our family. He has wanted to go back to Colorado Springs for a long time. Chris served his mission from 2003-2005 in Colorado Springs. So I set up a long weekend for us to go there on Vacation. We left on Thursday, a day after our 3 year Wedding Anniversary. It took 9 hours to drive from Provo to Colorado Springs. It was a long drive but it was beautiful. We arrived about 9pm and got something to eat at Chilis and then went to our hotel and went for a swim in the pool and hot tub.

On Friday we had a lot planned. We started off at Garden of the Gods. This is such an amazing place. It is a Garden of really HUGE Glacier Rock forms. Noah had a lot of fun climbing around on all the rocks and just playing around with Chris. Chris had been there once or twice on his mission and wanted to share it with us. It was great. A lot of walking but well worth it. Then we went to lunch and got gas before we headed to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. That is one of the best Zoos I have ever been too. It was on the side of the Mountain and the view was exceptional. We rode the Skylift (which you shouldn't do if you are terrified of heights) and saw completely across Colorado. It was great and scary all in one. Noah got to go for a pony ride and he loved it. The Zoo was huge and took most of our afternoon. We also tried to visit with a couple of families Chris worked with but nobody was home. BUMMER!!!! Then we were going to The Airplane Restaurant but were not really impressed so we decided to go to Red Robin instead. Then we just went back to the hotel for some swimming time.

Then on Saturday we got up and headed out to Pikes Peak. Another activity you shouldn't do if you are scared of heights, but it was worth it. Once we got to the top it was an amazing view and I am so glad that we went. It was about 30 degrees colder at the top so good thing we had sweatshirts in the back of the car. It was great up there.

The picture below is at one of the stop offs on the way up to Pikes Peak. It was so beautiful up there and the lake was great but FREEZING!
